So many different and uniquely lovable characters give an air of authenticity to the story. Bivalds use of multiple and unique characters reminded me of Louise Penneys characters in the Three Pines novels. To be honest, there were a few times when I thought the author was going to lose her way but ended up veering back into the story that I wanted to hear. The start was slow, almost without definition, and gave little draw, but soon the small town, Capra type characters began to get under my skin and I was compelled to finish. Its a tough category to fill, that primary summer read, but this one was a delight for me. "Readers of the Broken Wheel Recommend" became my comfortable, summer nights on the porch read this year. ![]()
